Areas of Focus

I believe in a holistic approach to health. This means that all aspects of a person are included and considered in our work together.

I assist my patients in a variety of areas including, but not limited to, anxiety, stress management, depression, grief and loss, life transitions (including empty nest syndrome, divorce, retirement), management of health issues, and trauma including sexual abuse and posttraumatic stress disorder.

Individuals engage in therapy for a variety of reasons, but for many it essentially comes down to this: wanting to lessen their problems and diminish their symptoms. The development of an individualized treatment plan is an essential first step in meeting these goals. Creating such a road map enables the patient to readily identify when progress is achieved, after which they often expand and identify additional areas of focus.

Chemical Dependency

With an extensive background in chemical dependency, I have experience in both conducting assessments and working with those impacted by addiction. This includes not only working with those who are struggling with their addiction, but also their families and loved ones.

Chemical dependency often brings with it some increased challenges. Frequently, a dual diagnosis is present, meaning that in addition to dependency a person may struggle with something such as depression. Working with a therapist who understands such complexities is imperative. However, a knowledgeable therapist is not enough. It is only when a person has a desire to make improvements that they can truly begin to enjoy growth "one step at a time."
